| Big question. What about privacy? |
hooeey does not need any personal information from you apart from an email id. hooeey is not ad-supported nor does it share any member data with any third parties.
| hooeey is a unique application and we are aware that user privacy is paramount. Our approach, which allows us to safeguard your privacy, this is based on complete transparency; the user is always in control of hooeey. Some specific features and tools built into hooeey for your privacy are: |
| browser history recording can be turned off with a single click |
| the user's data stays in his/her computer until the user chooses to upload it |
| a block list set by the user helps maintain privacy |
| the links and tags are never seen by anyone except the legitimate user |
| users can edit or delete links in their hooeey account any time |
| users can delete their entire account anytime through the 'Settings' page |

| What is hooeey? |
| hooeey is an application that helps you locate information quickly from your previously browsed web pages. |
| Often, we spend a great deal of time and effort trying to relocate a web page we have seen in the past. Existing tools such as browser history and bookmarks have limited usefulness because of portability, persistence and dependence on proactive user participation. |
| hooeey uses a different approach that combines seamless web hop recording with complete transparency and user control. |
| Is it a history manager, bookmarking application or a search engine? |
| hooeey combines the advantages of all three. By managing data unique to your browsing, hooeey makes: |
| browser history useful (by making it accessible across browsers, computers and networks) |
| bookmarking more flexible (you don't have to bookmark or tag immediately) |
| searches more precise (locates web pages you've seen before but can't remember and using a general search engine gives you too many links) |
| Do browsers come with a history function? |
| Sure, they do. In most browsers, you will see a two-week list of sites you visited. You can order this list by date, most visited or order of visit. But tag and comments as well as analytics aren't possible. Also the search function within URLs tagged and saved by other users is not available. And the browser history is dependent on one machine and not portable as with hooeey. |
| How does hooeey differ from del.icio.us/MySpace etc.? |
| hooeey is designed to let the users effortlessly record their web hops. They do not have to specifically bookmark or tag a web page when they are browsing--hooeey does it for them. The users are free to add a tag or a comment to a web page when they are browsing (similar to del.icio.us, furl, etc.) or even when they are not browsing (hooeey is unique in this respect). |
| Other areas of differentiation are: |
| hooeey combines browsing history from multiple browsers across multiple machines into a central repository. The user can then access this information from anywhere through the Internet. |
| hooeey enables the selective sharing of history and tags with friends and family |
| hooeey gives you a nice visual overview on your browsing behavior of the day, of the month, or even of an entire year. |
| How does hooeey compare with Google Personal Search? |
| Google Personal Search only retains history of searches performed in Google. It does not track every page you have visited, does not allow you to tag those pages, nor does it allow you to share them with friends/family. In addition, the history is only stored at the server level - there is no possibility to track this information in an off-line, user-centric mode. |

| How does hooeey differ from Google web history? |
| Google web history has broadly the same objectives as hooeey. It differs from hooeey in some significant ways: |
| Google web history only records your web activity while you are signed in to your Google Account. hooeey works without having to worry about signing in when you launch your browser, hooeey's already at work. |
| Google web history does not allow the user to access browser history off-line nor does it provide the user the ability to filter off-line what links are to be stored. Every site visited is automatically stored in Google's server. With hooeey, the user decides what web site links are stored and when. |
| Google web history has no way of tagging and commenting interesting web sites. hooeey allows you to tag and comment sites as you visit them or even when you are off-line! |
| Google web history has no way of letting you selective share links with your friends. hooeey allows you to create or import contact lists so that you can send interesting links to anyone easily. hooeey also allows you to see a list of links that you have shared with friends, in one place. |
| Only hooeey provides you a way to transform boring links into a visually-rich hooeey WebTour complete with title, themes and comments that are fun to create and share |
